Augusta

58 MB (unzipped) - Included in the game
soundscript are 28 "Augusta National"
and/or "The Masters" specific soundbytes
which play throughout based on specific
conditions. Some of these are,
"Introduction" listed under
"Pre-shot" is triggered to play on the
tee of the first hole as you begin play. This
sound includes the theme music for The Masters and
an overlaid opening commentary by Bill Macatee
spliced with a comment from Ken Venturi.
[Unfortunately, due to limitations in the
Soundscript Editor, that same soundbyte will
probably also play on holes 5-9-11 and 18 since
all these par 4s have similar yardages and yardage
is what triggers the sound. There are similar
situations on other holes as you play them. These
include a Master ad, various references to the
12th hole (Hogan's bridge, etc. which could also
play on 16), naming the announcers for the
tourney, references to Amen corner and an ovation
for Arnold Palmer walking the course.]
In all there are a
little over 550 soundbytes, excluding some
additional sounds provided for you to play or use
as you prefer. The "additional" sounds
provided are not part of the regular script.
However, in order to get them included in the
"Augusta.ssf" package they are placed in
the "Background" category of the
Soundscript Editor. There are 2 sub-categories to
look for, "Misc. club sounds", which
include additional metal drive sounds taken from
the TW2002 game and "Just some xtra
sounds", which has additional Augusta
commentary that were not used in the script but
you might find interesting.
[I usually try to have
at least 1000 (and as many as 2000) sounds in
order to have a script that will not become too
repetitive. However, that was not possible to get
in a 4 day event and since this will be used
strictly for use when playing the Augusta course,
it may not seem as repetitive as a script used for
all courses.]
Regardless,
enjoy the experience of playing Augusta as told by
the actual announcers commenting on the actual
events that occurred at the 2002 Augusta National
Masters.
